True or False: ';Atheism isn't a religion; it is a lack thereof?';?

By very definition of the word: True.True or False: ';Atheism isn't a religion; it is a lack thereof?';?
Half of that statement is true, and half is false. It is true that atheism is not a religion. However, atheism is not simply lack of religion. There are many people who really don't think twice about God or religion and hold no particular convictions at all. There are also many people who claim to be ';spiritual, but not religious,'; who believe in ';some sort of higher power'; but don't follow any particular religion.

Atheism, on the other hand, actively denies the existence of God. Atheists have thought about God, and rejected the idea. There is no higher power, there is no spirituality. Atheism isn't just lack of religion, it is the anti-religion.True or False: ';Atheism isn't a religion; it is a lack thereof?';?
Atheism is the belief that there are no gods or simply the noon belief in any gods. There are people who believe a god or gods who do not have ';religion' per say, and there are people who have religion but do not believe in any gods.

I will agree that atheism is not a religion.
Atheism, as an explicit position, can be either the affirmation of the nonexistence of gods, or the rejection of theism. It is also defined more broadly as synonymous with any form of nontheism, including the simple absence of belief in deities.

Neither.

It's a lack of belief in God, but unless you want to start saying Theravadan Buddhism is not a religion, it's not a lack of religion. On the other hand, neither is it in and of itself a religion.
Atheism is lack of belief in gods, nothing more. It is not a religion and it in no way qualifies as one. Some atheists do practice non-theistic religions, however. But again atheism in and of itself is in no way a religion.
False, atheism is the lack of belief in god(s), atheism in and of itself is not a religion nor a lack of one, that is simply not part of the definition.
I has nothing to do with religion. It's a lack of belief in God. You can believe in God and not believe in religion, and conversely, you can practice a religion and not believe in God.
It is not a religion. Religion is defined as belief in a supernatural entity or entities. Atheists do not believe in a supernatural entity.
it's that and more. there are plenty of people who believe in a higher power who lack a religion. atheists lack not only religion, but also belief in any god or gods.
False.

Atheism is a lack of belief in gods, not necessarily religion.

There are many atheistic religions out there.
True - those who say false just can't wrap their heads around the concept of a person not being a part of any religion, or the concept of disbelief in any god/s.
The first half is true. However, an atheist can practice a religion, such as Buddhism or Taoism.
true. atheism is no belief. religion is a set of many beliefs and rules and all that.
Atheism is a religion. Their God is self. They want to have their own way but deny others to even speak of God in public places.
Well, yes and no. Well, maybe just yes. But we atheists do have an interest in what the theists are doing and saying, so that is why we are here in R%26amp;S.
True

However, an atheist can be religious

Example:

Atheist Buddhist
yes.. atheists don't believe in a higher power called ';god';
Actually it is just a lack.
It isn't a religion.
lack thereof
False.
Yeah.

By the way, I do agree with the first guy.
first half is true.
I think an atheist's God is themselves. So yes, it is a religion.
