Sephardi are those Jews with ancestry in medieval Spain. They are found in certain European countries, Turkey, and the Middle East. (The term Sephardi is sometimes used more broadly to refer to any Jews from the Middle East, even those who do not have a family history in Spain.)





Ashkenazim and Sephardim (those are the plural forms) have distinct religious customs. For example, Ashkenazim do not eat rice on Passover, whereas Sephardim do.
