A major zone of active volcanoes encircles the atlantic ocean is it true or false?

False.

Here is a list of the 34 volcanoes in the Atlantic ocean basin:

You will see that most of them are in the Azores, the Canary Islands, Ascension Island in the central Atlantic, or the Cape Verde Islands, or are submarine. They do not really encircle the Atlantic. In the south Atlantic there is a small arc of volcanic islands known as the Sandwich Islands, and in the north Atlantic there is Iceland, which is part of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.

Another group of volcanoes forms the chain of islands know as the West Indies. Many of these are quite active. Soufriere Hills on Montserrat is currently erupting.
