True or False and why... The air expands when blown into a balloon?

THis is a question from my second grade daughter's science test?True or False and why... The air expands when blown into a balloon?
False because the air when blown into the balloon becomes compressed so pressurised inside relative to the air outside it. Compressed air is more air but in a lesser space. When the pressure is suddenly released by a pin the released air depressurises by releasing instantly to cause a POP! The balloon expands more when there is more compressed air inside it.

The type balloon where the air expands is in a hot air balloon, this is because the air inside of it is not being forced into it but instead heated by gas burners beneath it's opening and the air expands inside because it is hot and this lowers it's density to the heavier atmosphere outside and gives the balloon vehicle lift.True or False and why... The air expands when blown into a balloon?
I really don't know. It shouldn't be on her test unless they were thoroughly taught the science of gases, volume, mass, density, and Boyle's Laws. If they weren't, then her science teacher is an idiot.

See, when more air goes in, the mass gets larger, but so does the volume, so depending on the rate of mass or volume increase, the density might become larger or smaller. If the density becomes larger, then the air is being compressed, if it becomes smaller, then the air is expanding.

The rate of change is also likely different between a full and empty balloon.

You'd have to do some experiments or some calculations to figure this one out. Way too complicated for a 2nd grade science test.
False - the balloon itself expands proving that air takes up space.

Air pressure from outside of the balloon keeps the actual air gases from expanding (unless the balloon rises to a higher altitude with lower air pressure).

Are you sure this is from 2nd grade? Now I know why I'm NOT smarter than a 5th grader LOL
i think it's false....?

yeah false

because the air is just moving to a new place

the balloon is what's expanding...

im in college. i should know this but i honestly dont know lol

....America, right? lol
false

the air does not expand because you blow the air into the balloon and cause the material to expand
i would say false... the air wouldn't expand the balloon would because more air is being pushed into it...

that's my thought
true
False.
